Local Food Bank Awarded $5000 Grant

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne company has donated $5,000 to Community Harvest Food Bank. The grant from Reimbold and Anderson, a financial practice of Amerprise Financial will go toward programs for low-income senior citizens.

Officials with the food bank say there's a growing need for senior citizens, including widows and veterans. Jane Avery, the Executive Director of Community Harvest, says more and more seniors are outliving their resources.

Community Harvest serves more than 21,000 people every week. The organization estimates it distributed more than 13 million pounds of food last year in nine northeast Indiana counties.
