City Finalizes Aqua Indiana Purchase

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The City of Fort Wayne has finalized the Aqua Indiana deal.

This afternoon Mayor Tom Henry and Aqua Indiana President Tom Bruns officially signed the final documents to complete the $67 million dollar deal.
Under the agreement, more than 12 thousand Aqua customers in southwest Allen County will be served by City Utilities. The first of those customers, about 2,200, will come online this week.

Officials say it will be mean lower costs and better service for customers. Some estimates say the average user will save as much as $140 dollars per year.

Terms of the deal include $16.9 for a purchase in 2008, and $50.1 million dollars for the most recent acquisition.
