Police Release Name of Victim Involved in Friday’s U.S. 30 Crash

WARSAW, Ind. (WOWO): Warsaw Police have released the name of the victim from Friday's Crash on U.S. 30 involving a semi and a pick-up truck. The driver of the pick-up was 33-year-old Joseph Jacobs of Warsaw. However, due to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, police have not been able to release the status of Jacobs.

WARSAW, Ind. (WOWO): Warsaw Police and the Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team are investigating a serious crash that occurred Friday afternoon on US 30 at County Road 150 West.


Just after 1:00 p.m., officers responded to the crash on US 30 between a pick-up truck and a semi tractor trailer. Once on the scene, they found the pick-up partially under the rear of the semi. Emergency crews worked to extricate the driver of the pick-up who was seriously injured and unresponsive. The driver was airlifted from the scene to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.


The driver of the semi 47-year-old Gennadiy Trushov, of Pennsylvania was not injured. Trushov stated that he was stopped behind a line of traffic, for a red light, when he felt the impact to the rear of his trailer.


The preliminary investigation indicates that the pick-up truck did not brake before impact and struck the rear of the semi at highway speeds.


The identity of the pick-up driver is currently unknown and at this time police do not have an update on his condition.
