Fort Wayne Father Avoids Jail Time for Injured Baby

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne father has avoided jail time after admitting he neglected his infant son that suffered head trauma in 2013.

An Allen County judge accepted a plea deal Thursday morning that prosecutors made with Dan Thompson. The Journal-Gazette reports that Thompson was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but that jail time will be suspended. Thompson will spend the first three years on electronic monitoring and he'll spend six years on probation. He also was ordered to take anger management courses.

Thompson shook the baby hard and pinched the infant's leg when he discovered he wasn't breathing in November of 2013. The baby was taken to the hospital with swelling in his skull and hemorrhages in his eyes.
