Kendallville Man Arrested on Drug Charges

LAGRANGE, Ind. (WOWO): A Kendallville man was arrested after a traffic stop in LaGrange County Tuesday night. According to the LaGrange County Sheriff's Office, it started when 51-year-old Pernell Childers' 2002 Acura was spotted southbound on State Road 3 north of 700 S by a deputy that knew he was driving on a suspended license. After pulling him over, Childers stepped out of the vehicle and reached into his pants… it turned out he was reaching for a box of pseudoephedrine.

A search of Childers' vehicle also found drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, and drug precursors. Childers' license status is also HTV-Life, which means he's been identified by the Indiana BMV as a habitual traffic violator. He's in custody at the LaGrange County Jail.
