Future of Indiana’s School Voucher Program Moves to Courts

The Indiana Supreme Court will hear arguments today on a challenge to the 2011 law, which allows middle-income families to receive taxpayer-funded scholarships to attend private schools. More than 9,000 students are using the vouchers this year.

Incoming state school Superintendent Glenda Ritz says she intends to remove herself from the lawsuit. Ritz says the suit would present a conflict of interest. She plans to drop out of the legal challenge before she takes office in January.
