GOSHEN, Ind. (WOWO): A Goshen child is suffering from possible life-threatening injuries after the horse-drawn buggy she was riding in was rear-ended by an SUV.

It happened Friday morning on County Road 22 about three miles southwest of Middlebury. Elkhart County Sheriff's deputies say the driver of the SUV hit with such force, it threw the buggy operator out of the wagon.

29-year-old Linda Yoder suffered head and lower back pain. However, the 5-year-old girl riding with Yoder suffered more severe head injuries and was not conscious when emergency crews arrived on scene. The child was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
