Goshen opens new park at former quarry

GOSHEN, Ind. (AP): A northern Indiana city has opened a new park built around a former gravel quarry.

The new Fidler Pond Park along U.S. 33 in Goshen includes a 1.5-mile walking trail and a designated fishing area.

The city bought the property from Aggregate Industries last year for $550,000. The quarry was originally operated by the Fidler family.

Non-motorized boating is allowed at the lake about 25 miles southeast of South Bend. Kayaks and canoes are available to rent on site.
