Obama, Dems Mock Stutzman’s Budget Remark

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats are mocking an Indiana congressman for saying Republicans should get something from the budget standoff – but he doesn't know what that is.

Republican Marlin Stutzman made the comments in an interview Wednesday with the Washington Examiner. Stutzman sent out a statement Thursday saying he “carelessly misrepresented” the budget fight.

That didn't stop Obama and Democrats from seizing on the remark. At an event Thursday in Maryland, Obama said Stutzman's already had a chance to serve the American people, and there is no higher honor.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said at a Capitol Hill news conference that Stutzman represents the Republicans whom Democrats are dealing with.
