$9.7 Earmarked for STEM Job Recruitment, Retention

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): A statewide effort to attract teachers into science and other high tech fields got a big boost.

The Indiana Career Council announced $9.7 million in STEM recruitment incentives to keep and lure candidates to the state.

Much of the money goes to cover educational costs at selected college in exchange for commitments to teach in the state, or other  target areas such as inner-city communities in the state.

Experts project Indiana will have as many as 115 thousand high tech jobs requiring post-secondary degrees by 2018.
