Husband, Wife Died in Retirement Home Shooting

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP): Authorities say the two people who died in an apparent murder-suicide at a Bloomington retirement center were a married couple.

The Monroe County coroner says 77-year-old Robert White and 76-year-old Ruth White died at Meadowood Retirement Community's health pavilion from gunshot wounds.

Coroner Nicole Meyer tells The Herald-Times it appears Robert White shot his wife twice and then shot himself Friday. Bloomington police found a handgun at the scene.

Police say Ruth White had recently been moved into an assisted care room at Meadowood, but her husband didn't live there.

The bodies were found in a room the woman shared with another person. Police say no one else was hurt or threatened.
