Missing Michigan Kayaker’s Body Found in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) – Authorities say the body of a missing kayaker has been found in the Flat Rock River in Columbus more than two weeks after he disappeared.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says the body of 27-year-old Enrique Quinonez of Kalamazoo, Mich., was found in the river Monday afternoon in Mill Race Park, about 150 yards away from where he was last seen when his kayak capsized on April 6.

Conservation Officer Jet Quillen says a passerby alerted authorities after noticing something in the river. He says divers with Bartholomew County Water Rescue team located the body in 4 feet of water under a large submerged tree.

Columbus is about 40 miles south of Indianapolis.
