Dem seeks sanctions against ‘corrupt’ Turner…

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ A Democratic House candidate says House Speaker Pro Tem Eric Turner should be sanctioned for his efforts to kill legislation which would have cost him millions in potential profits.

Democrat Bob Ashley called Turner's actions “morally corrupt'' and said House Speaker Brian Bosma should consider stripping his role in House leadership.  Ashley is running for the central Indiana seat held by Turner.

Turner said in a statement Friday that the House Ethics Committee “cleared'' his record.

The panel determined Wednesday that Turner did not break any existing rules. But the panel said his actions exposed problems with the existing ethics rules themselves.

Senate Republican leaders sanctioned Sen. Mike Delph of Carmel earlier this year after he criticized their handling of the gay marriage issue.
