EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ A southern Indiana man convicted of killing two women has unexpectedly pleaded guilty to killing a third while jury selection was underway in the latest case.
WDRB-TV and WLKY-TV report William Clyde Gibson pleaded guilty to murder Tuesday in connection with the slaying of 35-year-old Stephanie Kirk of Charlestown. Her remains were found buried outside Gibson's New Albany home in 2012.
The plea waives Gibson's right to a jury determining his fate. Instead, Floyd Superior Court Judge Susan Orth will decide Gibson's sentence during a hearing expected to last three days and set to begin July 28.
Gibson was sentenced to death in November for the 2012 murder of a family friend. He was sentenced in April to 65 years after pleading guilty in the death of a Florida woman.
