EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP): A federal appeals court has dismissed an Evansville church's appeal of judge's decision barring its plan to display dozens of crosses on the city's riverfront.
 
       Wednesday's ruling by the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago dismissed the appeal on the grounds that West Side Christian Church was not a party to the original lawsuit and lacked standing to file an appeal.
 
       The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana sued on behalf of two Evansville residents last year after the city approved allowing the church to display about 30 6-foot tall crosses on public land along Evansville's downtown riverfront.
 
       West Side Christian Church attorney Chris Wischer tells the Evansville Courier & Press he had not yet reviewed the appeals court's ruling but called it “disappointing.”
