Father Wants 2nd Death Sentence For Indiana Man

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) _ A slain southern Indiana woman's father wants a death sentence for the man who admitted killing her and burying her body.

Four days of testimony ended Thursday on whether a judge should give William Clyde Gibson III the death penalty for the strangulation death of 35-year-old Stephanie Kirk of Charlestown. Her remains were found buried behind his New Albany home in 2012.

Gibson's already been given the death penalty for killing a 75-year-old family friend and a 65-year sentence for the stabbing death of a 44-year-old woman.

Tony Kirk told reporters he believed Gibson should die for killing his daughter.

Defense attorney Patrick Biggs argued a second death sentence for Gibson is unnecessary and cited his history of alcoholism and bipolar disorder.

The judge set Gibson's sentencing for Aug. 15.
