Ohio River Bridge To Louisville Reopens To Traffic

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ An Ohio River bridge that links southern Indiana to Louisville, Kentucky, has reopened to traffic a week early.

WLKY-TV reports (http://bit.ly/VpER3S ) that the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge, also known as the Second Street bridge, reopened early Friday well before the morning rush hour. The bridge that runs between Jeffersonville and Louisville had been closed for construction since July 8 as part of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

Walsh Construction spokesman Max Rowland tells the News and Tribune and The Courier-Journal that the bridge-work was completed faster than scheduled because of good weather conditions during the closure. The bridge's closure had contributed to traffic backups on Interstate 65, particularly during rush hour.
