Surprise Donor Paying for Thanksgiving Parade Trip

GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) _ All members of a central Indiana high school's marching band will be able to make the trip to New York City for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade thanks to some generous parents.

It is costing $1,250 for each Center Grove High School band member traveling to the parade _ and band director Kevin Schuessler says eight of the 166 members couldn't afford to go despite a raffle fundraiser and appeals for business donations.

Schuessler tells the Daily Journal the mother of a band member told him last week that she and her husband wanted to cover the $10,000 cost for those eight students.

He says the donors want to remain anonymous. Schuessler describes them as a couple who've been supportive of the band but not people regarded as wealthy.
