TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) – Indiana State University President Dan Bradley was among the college leaders nationwide taking part in a White House summit on college access.

The Tribune-Star reports (http://bit.ly/1yXWkRe ) Bradley says Indiana State wants to become a national leader in addressing concerns by some students that they don't “fit in'' at college, by conducting focus groups of students and developing appropriate interventions.

Bradley says Indiana State also plans to reach out to middle school and high school counselors to help better prepare historically and economically disadvantaged students for the obstacles and realities of higher education before they enroll in college.

College leaders met Thursday with President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. The summit also includeed business leaders, nonprofit groups and others who support expanding college opportunities.
