1 Dead after 3 Separate Interstate 65 Accidents in Indiana

LEBANON, Ind. (AP) – One person is dead after three separate crashes temporarily shut down Interstate 65 in both directions in central Indiana.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office said at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday that the interstate was reopened.

Indianapolis TV station WTHR reports the roadway was closed in both directions near the 141 mile marker.

The first crash happened at about 2 a.m. involving an SUV. There were no injuries. A second crash at the same location happened when a semi struck a Lebanon police car. A police officer was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Boone County authorities confirm a third, multiple-vehicle crash left a semi driver dead. Police say the truck driver got out of the semi to check damage when another semi struck and killed the driver.
