Indiana Toll Road Bans Long, High-Profile Trucks

GRANGER, Ind. (AP) – The Indiana Toll Road has temporarily banned certain long and high-profile trucks from a 65-mile stretch because of the threat of heavy snow and blowing snow.

The northern Indiana tollway has announced triple tractor-trailers, long double trailers and high-profile oversize permit loads will be banned for a 24-hour period beginning at 10 p.m. EST Wednesday from mile post 31 to mile post 96. That's roughly between Valparaiso and Elkhart.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the region, saying local storm totals of 3-7 inches of snow and winds gusting over 30 mph will cause widespread blowing and drifting.
