LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ School officials across Indiana say a stress test of the online ISTEP+ system has encountered problems.
Test administrator CTB/MCgraw-Hill is reporting on its online status page that “a number of schools have reported freezing issues'' during Thursday's test.
The stress test was intended to ensure the system works smoothly when the online portion of the standardized test is given to 470,000 Indiana students in the coming weeks.
Lafayette School Corp. Assistant Superintendent John Layton tells the Lafayette Journal & Courier that the system worked well for about 20 minutes and then computers began freezing up.
The problems have come as Gov. Mike Pence and state schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz look for ways to shorten the test. The State Board of Education is scheduled to take up the matter Friday.
