Indiana First Lady To Award Grants To 35 State Organizations

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ First Lady Karen Pence is donating $30,500 to 35 Indiana organizations and charities that serve families and children across the state.

Each organization will receive a check at a reception Tuesday ranging from $500 to $1,000 in grant money from the Indiana First Lady's Charitable Foundation.

Pence started the Foundation in August 2013 as a way to recognize and lift up organizations and charities that were reaching out to her for support.

The foundation awarded its first major grant of $100,000 last year to an art therapy program at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
