EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (AP) – A jury has acquitted a 25-year-old East Chicago man in the shooting deaths of two other men nearly five years ago.

Terrance Kevin Robert Strong Jr. was accused of fatally shooting and attempting to rob 52-year-old Jose Melendez of East Chicago in July 2010. He also was accused in the shooting death of 22-year-old Cordell Allen of East Chicago, who was found dead the same morning as Melendez.

Strong was acquitted Tuesday of murder, murder in perpetration of a robbery and attempted robbery. The Chicago Tribune (http://trib.in/1aHC1Qd ) reports juror were deadlocked on a murder charge in Allen's death but returned verdicts on three of four charges.
