SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (AP) – A judge has sentenced a central Indiana man to 30 years in prison for his guilty pleas in connection with the slaying of a girlfriend whose remains were found on his property last July.
Special Judge Richard Culver sentenced Scott Schuck of Shelbyville on Wednesday after the defendant pleaded guilty last month to aiding voluntary manslaughter and being a habitual offender. Culver said Schuck has shown no remorse.
Rebecca Cassidy disappeared on April 10, 2010. After Cassidy's skeletal remains were found on his property last summer, Schuck was arrested and charged with murder.
Schuck told Cassidy's family that he loved her and did not kill her.
Tammy Cassidy, the victim's sister, testified about the “horrific experience'' not knowing for years what happened to her.
