SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ The judge hearing the trial of a man charged in an Indianapolis house explosion says he'll allow prosecutors to present an audio recording of the screams of a man who initially survived the blast before dying.
St. Joseph Superior Court Judge John Marnocha announced his decision Thursday during jury selection for Mark Leonard, who faces two counts of murder, arson, conspiracy and insurance fraud charges stemming from the November 2012 blast that killed John “Dion'' Longworth and his wife, Jennifer, and damaged or destroyed more than 80 homes.
The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/1KGWbFC ) lead prosecutor Denise Robinson said the recording by a firefighter while Longworth was screaming for help in his burning home is evidence of “torture as an aggregating'' factor in the crime.
The case was moved from Indianapolis.
