Weather Service Says Small Tornado Hit in Northern Indiana

NORTH JUDSON, Ind. (AP) – The National Weather Service says a small tornado wiped out dozens of trees that surrounded a family's home in rural northern Indiana.

Members of the Fabian family spent Monday starting to clean up the damage from Sunday evening's storm. It hit their property near the Starke County town of North Judson.

Weather service officials say the tornado had winds reaching 95 mph but was on the ground for less than a quarter mile.

No injuries were reported but the storm damaged the roof and siding of the Fabian's home and those of some neighbors about 40 miles southwest of South Bend.

Fabian family members tell WSBT-TV and WNDU-TV that they're grateful no one was hurt despite losing the wooded area where they spent years building trails.
