I-65 Speeding Enforcement Blitz Nabs About 300 Drivers

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Police have ticketed about 300 motorists for speeding on a stretch of Interstate 65 in Indianapolis.

WRTV reports (http://bit.ly/1JHUXv7 ) more than 25 patrol cars from the Indiana State Police, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and other agencies conducted the four-hour enforcement blitz Tuesday in the southbound lanes just south of downtown Indianapolis.

IMPD Capt. Greg Bieberich says the crackdown was part of an effort called Operation Centipede to prevent deadly crashes. The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute awarded a grant for the blitz.

The speed limit in that area is 55 mph.
