Armed Robbery Suspect a Repeat Offender

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 43-year-old Fort Wayne man shot by police Sunday night after an attempted robbery has a history with police.

Allen County Court records show Anthony Gant has been charged with resisting arrest four times since 2009, and has a rap sheet that includes battery, criminal trespassing and invasion of privacy.

Gant was shot by police in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store on East State Street Sunday night after he and 31-year-old Christopher Johnson allegedly tied up an employee and customer.

Public Safety Director Rusty York told the Journal Gazette that Gant was armed. He's currently in stable but critical condition at a Fort Wayne hospital; Johnson is in police custody.
