Council Stalls on Pay Raises

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne City Council couldn't agree last night on whether or not they deserve a raise.

While the Council's committee session passed an ordinance for a 2% annual pay raise for the City's elected officials, whether or not that will go into effect next week is in question. Council President John Crawford told the Journal Gazette he's asking for a pay freeze for the coming year, but that proposal fell one vote short of passing. The pay raise proposal itself passed, but without a recommendation.

Mayor Tom Henry's salary is more than $128,000… Council members bring in just over $22,000 a year.
