FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A couple of bills are headed to Governor Mike Pence’s desk that would break 2015’s controversial ISTEP test results away from both teacher evaluations and schools’ A-through-F grades.

Gov. Pence tells WOWO news he’ll sign both.

“You bet. We’re actually anticipating getting both of those bills today, and we’ll have a good bipartisan group of legislators at the Capitol for a signing ceremony,” Pence says.

He adds that he couldn’t be happier at the bipartisan work of the General Assembly to address the issue. Some Republicans are also asking to re-score the test after problems were revealed with its administration, but the State Department of Education is resisting that idea.

Locally, all school districts saw their performance drop due to the test’s tougher new standards, but Fort Wayne Community Schools was impacted the worst, with 23 of their schools failing the exam.
