FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Music lovers will have plenty to enjoy this weekend in Fort Wayne.

The city is hosting the 2016 North American Brass Band Association Championships this Friday and Saturday. Visit Fort Wayne says more than 1,100 performers from the US and Canada will be in town to compete for championship honors in six categories at the Embassy Theatre downtown.

The competition will kick off with Fort Wayne’s Old Crown Brass Band Friday night at 7pm.

Two-day tickets to the event are $25, student tickets are $10.

Tourism officials expect the competition to bring in about $300,000 for the local Fort Wayne economy.
