Police officers and K9s come to Fort Wayne for workshop

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Police officers and K9s from across America will be in Fort Wayne next week, but don’t be alarmed — they’re coming for a workshop, not an investigation.

More than 150 police officers and 100 police dogs are coming to Fort Wayne for the 2016 North America Police Work Dog Association National Workshop next week, according to visit Fort Wayne.

The Fort Wayne Police Department is hosting the full week workshop from June 19 to 25. The workshop will consist of utility training session, tactical classes and specialty field work in phases of narcotics, explosives and cadavers.

The public has the chance to attend a demonstration at 7 p.m. June 23 at Northrop High School.

The workshop is expected to bring the city $200,000.
