FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne’s Riverfront development plans may cost more than planned.

According to a new report by the News-Sentinel, the $8 million price tag for construction of the first phase of development could actually be closer to $20 million, and that’s not including the cost of land.

Plans for the riverfront include an overlook area for the north bank of the St. Mary’s River, as well as boating docks, a promenade to the south, and space for both a promenade and concert area.

Mayor Tom Henry is expected to release an update on riverfront plans today with a more public presentation possibly coming next week.

So far about $12 million has been promised for the project between the City’s Legacy fund and other sources.
