City Council approves Riverfront Development contract

(Saige Driver/WOWO Radio)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne’s riverfront development project took a big step forward last night.

The City Council approved a $1.7-million design and engineering contract, according to the News-Sentinel. The contract is being paid for through the city’s Legacy Fund, and covers construction documents, project bidding and construction administration.

It was originally slated for approval last week, but the vote was delayed so Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll could have time to develop a mechanism for keeping private donors up to date on the project’s status.

A total of $6-million from the Legacy Fund has been green-lit for the project, which should start construction in mid-to-late 2017.
