Autopsies show 3 died of multiple stab wounds

SUMAVA RESORTS, Ind. (AP) – A coroner says three people found dead in a rural northwestern Indiana home all died from multiple stab wounds.

Newton County Coroner Scott McCord said the autopsies for 20-year-old Justin L. Babbs, 23-year-old Richard Thomas and 39-year-old Kimberly Spears were performed Monday afternoon in Lafayette.

Police arrested a Cedar Lake man in connection with the slayings. Sheriff’s Capt. Shannon Cothran says 24-year-old Sebastian Wedding is being held without bond at the Newton County Jail on a preliminary murder charge. It was unclear if he had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

A spokeswoman for the county prosecutor says the office is still investigating the killings and has not yet filed formal charges.

Officers responding to a 911 call of a bleeding man found the victims.
