Woman shot in stomach after suspected domestic dispute

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 31-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen then drove herself to the hospital on Sunday morning.

Police were called around 3:11 a.m. Sunday to a home near Colerick Street and Plaza Drive. The caller said a woman has been shot and was going to drive herself to the hospital.

Shortly after the call, the victim left the house in a blue colored van. Officers searched the area but couldn’t find the woman.  However, they did receive a call from the victim informing them she was driving to the hospital.

During the call, she said the shooting happened near the 4600 block of Oliver Street.

The victim arrived at the hospital at 3:37 a.m.  in critical condition.  She wasn’t providing much information to police, but indicated it happened during a domestic dispute.

Detectives are currently investigating and interviewing witnesses.  They say there is no suspect information to provide at this time.

As of Monday morning, the woman was listed in fair condition.
