Fort Wayne man accused of stabbing woman

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man was arrested and a woman was hospitalized after a stabbing in Fort Wayne.

Toriano A. Kurtz, 36 of Fort Wayne was arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony, domestic battery, a Level 5 felony, and cruelty to an animal, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

At about 9:08 p.m. Friday, crews responded to the 1200 block of Fairfield Avenue on reports of a fight in progress. The caller told police they heard a physical struggle and a woman screaming.

When crews arrived, they found a woman suffering from apparent stab wounds. She was hospitalized in critical condition.

Witnesses saw Kurtz run away before officers arrived. Police eventually found him and arrested him.
