INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO):  Indianapolis 500 fans shattered last year’s record for data usage on their mobile devices during this year’s historic running of the race.

Verizon consumers alone used 26 terabytes of data on their mobile devices for race weekend in 2017 – sharing photos, posting to social media and uploading videos from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

That amount of data is enough to stream video on 4G LTE for 8.5 years.

On race day alone this past Sunday, fans used 14 terabytes to capture all the action.
