FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Beginning Monday, Washington Center Road will be closed between Cross Creek Boulevard and Country Forest Drive.

The closure will be put into place in order to replace the bridge over Spy Run Creek. The new bridge will add an extra traffic lane in each direction, as traffic on the road has increased by more than 20% in less than ten years.

An official detour will reroute traffic to Cook Road via Lima Road and Hueguenard Road.

A new traffic signal will also be installed at Cross Creek Boulevard, east of the bridge.

The closure is expected to last through October 2018.
