INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Governor Eric Holcomb offered the following statement on Officer David Tinsley, a 16-year veteran of the Fort Wayne Police Department who died in the line of duty Monday night:

“Officer Tinsley was a true Hoosier hero, who died protecting his community. Janet and I are heartbroken for his family, friends and the Fort Wayne Police Department. I ask all Hoosiers to join me in honoring Officer Tinsley’s service and dedication.”

Tinsley collapsed on his way back to his police cruiser after a chase with an auto theft suspect that ended with the suspect crashing in a wooded area, and police continuing the chase on foot before capturing him.
