FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne City Council is on board with a new paid parental leave policy for city employees.

The Council gave preliminary approval to a policy that would give city employees up to three weeks of parental leave for the birth or adoption of a new child, according to the Journal Gazette. Employees will have to have worked for the city for at least a year before they can use the leave.

Councilman Jason Arp was the only “no” vote on the proposal. A final vote will be held next week.
