FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A woman was hit and killed by a vehicle on Lafayette Street Wednesday night.

The Fort Wayne Police Department says it happened at about 7pm near the intersection with Tillman Road when the woman tried to run across four lanes of traffic.

She was hit by a northbound vehicle before she could make it across the road. When paramedics arrived she was in critical condition, and she died at a nearby hospital.

The woman was later identified by the Allen County Coroner’s Office as Kimberly McCagg, 47 of Fort Wayne. Her cause of death was blunt force drama, and it was ruled an accident.

Police are still investigating the crash.
