ANDERSON, Ind. (AP): A 34-year-old Anderson man has pleaded guilty to charges that he phoned in a bomb threat to the Madison County Clerk’s office last month.

Under the terms of his plea, Andrew E. Leonard faces a maximum sentence of three in prison when he’s sentenced on felony counts of intimidation where the victim is a judge or bailiff and making a false report.

Leonard’s May 2 call led to the voluntary evacuation of the Madison County Government Center in Anderson and a search that included the use of three bomb-sniffing bombs. No bombs were found.

Leonard was quickly arrested after his phone number showed up on the caller ID in the clerk’s office.

The (Anderson) Herald Bulletin reports Leonard allegedly phoned in the threat to avoid a child support hearing.
