Anderson Officials Approve Deal for Auto Parts Factory

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) _ City officials in Anderson have approved a deal under which an auto parts supplier will build a factory that could employ 400 workers in the next few years.

The Anderson City Council voted 7-0 on Wednesday in favor of a 10-year property tax break plan for NTN Driveshaft worth about $12 million. The company based in Columbus says it plans to spend about $140 million on building and equipping the factory where it will make velocity joints for the automotive industry.

The Herald Bulletin reports construction work is expected to begin this winter. Company president Jim Riggs says initial production will start in spring 2017.

NTN Driveshaft has about 1,700 workers at factories in Columbus. Company officials expect that workforce to remain stable.
