Armed robbery at Angola CVS Pharmacy, one arrested

ANGOLA, Ind. (WOWO) – The Angola City Police was called to the CVS Pharmacy located at 700 N Wayne Street around 1:50 p.m. Thursday to reports of an armed robbery in progress.

A caller provided details to the robbery and said the suspect was still inside the store, within the pharmacy area.

The caller also provided the officers with a detailed description of the suspect, saying he was in his late forties with short grey hair and was wearing a black colored backpack.

He was armed with a small handgun.

Officers arrived to the scene and set up a perimeter around the building.

The suspect attempted to leave the store from the south, and was ordered to stop.

After resisting the officers’ commands, the officers used a Tazer and he was taken into custody.

The man was identified as Kenneth Alan Baker, 23 of Eaton Rapids Michigan.

Records indicate there is an outstanding Parole warrant from Michigan for Baker.

Baker was first taken to Cameron Hospital and then transported to the Steuben County Jail.

An investigation into the attempted robbery revealed Baker went to the Pharmacy and pointed the gun at the Pharmacist, demanding medication and money.

The Pharmacist complied with his request and no one was injured.

A further investigation revealed Baker was also in possession of a stolen vehicle from Clare, Michigan.

All medications, money, and the small handgun were recovered by the police.

Kenneth Baker is incarcerated at the Steuben County Jail for Felony Robbery, Pointing a firearm, Felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen vehicle and a Parole Violation warrant from Michigan.

The case is still under investigation.
