FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A former Republican is now the chairman of the Allen County Democratic Party.

Former Indiana State Senate candidate Jack Morris was elected at a caucus Saturday. He replaces outgoing chairman John Court, who stepped down after three years at the helm. Our partners in news at 21Alive say that Court is stepping down to spend time with family.

He'll be joined by Allen County Councilwoman Sharon Tucker, who will serve as vice-chair of the Allen County Democratic Party.

Morris and Tucker were the only people to actually submit the paperwork needed to be considered.
