Authorities Mum on Search of Rural Area of Central Indiana

WHEELING, Ind. (AP) _ Authorities who are searching a large tract of rural land in central Indiana won't discuss the nature of their investigation.
 
Muncie police officers, Delaware County sheriff's deputies and FBI agents began searching a more than 140-acre area Thursday in northern Delaware County.
 
The Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/20x089u ) that a cadaver dog joined the search and authorities appeared to dig a series of shallow holes in the backyard of a home in the search area.
 
Muncie Police Chief Steve Stewart declined to comment on the search, including whether authorities are looking for a body. He says the search would resume Friday. It also extended to a home in the community of Royerton north of Muncie.
 
Muncie police did not immediately return a message left Friday morning seeking comment on the search.
