WHITING, Ind. (AP): Police say an 11-year-old boy died after he was hit by a semitrailer on a busy city street in northwestern Indiana.

State police say Angel Villafuerte was trying to cross Indianapolis Boulevard in Whiting when he was struck on Wednesday. The semitrailer drove off from the scene in the city along Lake Michigan next to Hammond, but police say a driver and truck possibly involved in the collision was stopped a few miles away.
