INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indiana residents would lose federally extended unemployment benefits immediately if automatic federal spending cuts take effect Friday.
 
  Indiana’s Department of Workforce Development says it would temporarily suspend federal emergency unemployment benefits Saturday if the cuts take effect. 
 
  Agency spokesman Joe Frank says the benefits for those unemployed more than 26 weeks would remain suspended until the state receives guidance from the federal government. He says 32,000 Hoosiers collected extended benefits last week.
 
  Unless Congress acts by Friday, $85 billion in cuts are set to take effect from March to September. 
 
  Unemployed people are just one group of vulnerable Hoosiers who would be affected by the cuts. Some social service providers say they don’t know how the cuts will unfold and they’ve received little or no guidance from the federal government.
